This is a different kind-of episode of The Filmcraziest Show, which is always exciting! I was able to chat with the multi-talented actor Harrison Houde (known for such TV shows as Some Assembly Required and films like Diary of a Wimpy Kid), who has also been making YouTube videos since he was a kid. He was able to transfer those skills into being the co-creator and director of a new web series called Stories of Kindness, designed to promote kindness, creativity and storytelling for children in Canada. The website can be found here and you can find their YouTube channel here.
In our fun conversation we chat about how the web series came to be, how he first got started on YouTube as a kid, about playing Darren Walsh – the Cheese Touch Kid – in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, being a guest host on Stories of Kindness even though he wasn’t planning on it, how the hosts were chosen for the show and paired with celebrity guests… We also chat about the structure of the show, the walrus and how those scenes are filmed by a 16-year-old, as well as cyberbullying, plans for the future and, of course, sharing stories of kindness and how you can be kind. There’s much more and it’s all very wholesome and Canadian; but kindness is universal.
