“Cabin Connection” Interview | Stars Katherine Barrell, Cody Ray Thompson | The Filmcraziest Show

Hannah Monroe (Katherine Barrell) is a writer at a lifestyle magazine, working on a feature asking the question, “Is marriage really worth it?” When her grandmother dies, she inherits her cabin in a small town, and Hannah travels there to work on the article, and get the cabin ready to sell.

Once there, she meets Cole (Cody Ray Thompson), a handyman at a local hardware store; and Hannah hires him to fix her cabin. Once they get to know each other, they both start to believe in love again and Hannah wonders if she should even sell the cabin at all.

From Vortex Media, Cabin Connection is somewhere in between a Christmas romance film and wintry romance, there’s definitely the sweet romance you’ve come to expect from films like these ones. One aspect that sets this film apart are the two great leads, as well as a really fun supporting character in Danielle (actor and YouTuber Julie Nolke), Cole’s sister who fancies herself a matchmaker for her brother.

As well, for someone like me who doesn’t watch a lot of these films, I enjoyed the realistic conflict in the film, as misunderstandings in romance are sometimes what keeps me from enjoying them. There’s of course a romantic misunderstanding, but I really believed it here, which makes Cabin Connection memorable to me.

The interview

For my podcast The Filmcraziest Show, I was able to speak with the film’s stars Katherine Barrell and Cody Ray Thompson about their work in Cabin Connection. We talked about Cody not actually being in Bad News Bears, Kat and Cody working together in a film before and then working together here, what they related to most about their characters, their favourite movie occupations they’ve played, believable conflict, and #CabinEarpers.

You can watch that interview below on YouTube, or download the audio below that, as well.

Cabin Connection is currently streaming on the Super Channel in Canada, with information here. A release for U.S. audiences is still to be announced.
