About Me

Daniel, Brewfest

That’s me!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, person reading this. If you care to read a little about me, and since you’ve come to the “About” page, read on.

I’m Daniel Prinn, I hail from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It’s been awhile since I’ve updated this ‘About me’ section, but when I wrote this little page, I was 18 years old in the summer of 2012.

Now, in February 2016, I am 21 years old and attending Algonquin College for journalism. That’s why my posts have been infrequent – because I’ve been busy with school – but I’m working on getting back into the groove of things.

I’m still using this website to display my film reviews and my thoughts on all the movies I like, don’t like – but mostly, all the ones I see, I try to write a review about. I’m still an aspiring film critic even though my interests have changed and I like photography a lot now.

I started this website in August 2012, and started writing film reviews in May 2012 (I invite you to look at my reviews and see how much my writing style has changed over that time).

I figure I’ll tell you a bit more about myself before I let you navigate through the site. The first film I reviewed was the 2008 gambling flick, 21, starring Kevin Spacey (one of my favourite actors) and Jim Sturgess.

I’m not sure what initially sparked my interest in film, but my father collected a lot and that could be one of the sources of my love of film. Film critics could probably say which film made them look at movies as an art form, but for me, I’m not sure which that is.

If I tried to think really hard, it would probably be one of David Fincher or Quentin Tarantino’s works. And I don’t remember the first film I saw, which is sort-of a bummer. If someone asks me my favourite film, I like to pick The Green Mile. To me, it’s perfect in blending genres.

If you’ve been on my blog before, you might have noticed that I said I had never seen the original Star Wars trilogy. Well, update: As of December 2015, I have seen the original trilogy. That’s a victory for me.

I love writing. I see films as an escape and a great art form – and I review films of any genre, even if they aren’t my cup of tea. I like to give every feature a fair shake. If you’re a filmmaker and have a film you’d want me to review, send me an e-mail. I’d love to hear from you. Until then, navigate through the website and if you like what you see, leave a comment and share. Thanks for stopping by.
